Mình dùng Model 500X bạn ạ. Bạn dùng 300X lâu chưa? Hiện tượng có hình mà không có tiếng trước kia có xuất hiện trong dòng chip Realtek nhưng đã fix được rồi mà. Bác đã kiểm tra vấn đề này chưa ạ?

Introduction
The Med500X2 Mede8er is part of this new generation of compatible media players Flash, USB 3.0 and Gigabit Ethernet. This model incorporates the new chip Realtek RTD1185 that provides ISO support Blu-ray, bitstream the DTS-HD MA and TrueHD, is seen with a compatible 3TB HDD rack.

In other words, on paper this player is very interesting especially since it is offered at 179 euros, which puts it clearly in competition with the Netgear NeoTV 550, the Dune HD Lite 53D, see the HDX BD-1 which their are equipped with a Sigma Designs chip. The question is whether the field those promises are kept, if the ergonomics and interface quality are waiting for you and what functions and stability of the firmware with this we propose Mede8er MED500X2. This is what we see in this test.

Presentation of Mede8er MED500X2

MED500X2 the case is as a rather quiet, fairly compact, all dressed in'une hull aluminum but very light with no HDD. It displays a simple design, class and rather mat with a black front mirror, but without digital display. Only a red light or blue is present. This lack of digital display banned on TV turned off all navigation for use exclusively musical.

The front also has several selection buttons for reading files and move the menu with an "Enter", "Return" and "Stop", and TV Out to directly set the output resolution.

Here is an overview of the functioning of the device. For test purposes, we have included a HDD 3.5 "3TB, connecting the device via Ethernet to access media stored on my PC, plugged in an external USB Rack to expand the storage devices. We used the reader connected HDMI to a Denon AVR-1910 amp DTS-HD/TrueHD compatible with a 5.1 speaker kit and amplifier connected to a TV LED.

First observation, the boot is fast, and a fan noise is heard very slightly. You should know that the player has a 40 mm fan, however this was no noise nuisance to us, to just 1 meter reader can not hear it already, then read with a film is simply inaudible.

Interface Overview
The interface appears, the player starts a scan of all devices, again super fast. There is a very fun and nice interface, very responsive, with lovely illustrations and several tabs. The first tab on the famous video wall, covers a system that is not yet available, which is under development, but you can already see the first screenshots of the demo version.

A system that promises great jackets, with an automatic film, easy to configure and obviously that will bring a huge plus to this already very nice interface. The second tab "Library" provides access to all storage devices, either via USB, HDD, or via the network share protocols with Samba, NFS or UPnP. Everything is presented clearly, with a classic (sorted by video, music, photos, genre, actors, years, etc.).. We have noticed a little bug against this, when several devices are connected via USB, sometimes the HDD no longer appears. Note also that with the support of Gigabit, even the UPnP protocol, which is easy to use, but usually limited, provides better performance of video files with high speed (no saccades recorded on the same M2TS with more than 40 mb / s flow).

The main menu also offers three tabs MED500X2 reserved for the intelligent search for videos, music or photos accessible from the player via USB, HDD or network. The principle is simple, you go to the "Search Videos", all the videos available are displayed and you can refine the selection with "recently viewed", "By Name", "Date Added", and even display the ISO DVD and Blu-ray, DVD and BD structures. function very pleasant, although we'll have liked to sort by genre, actor, year, duration, etc..

Setting audio, video, network and functions
Finally, the tabs of the most important is of course the configuration settings of the player. This tab is fairly complete, not as complete as on Dune, but still. There are five submenus configuration.

The first player settings such as language interface (French available), resume play on the videos, the activation of BD-Lite menus (without that, the player starts the film directly on a Blu-ISO ray without displaying menus Lite (no Java support). We do not find the opportunity that some media players downsample audio to 96 kHz or 48 kHz.

The third sub-menu on the display. We find everything you need with little or management 720p/720i diffusers, 1080p/1080i, 50 Hz, 60 Hz, PAL / SECAM, etc.. By cons as too often, no output "Direct" to use as it should be a video processing amplifier or an external scaler. This will enable autoframrate 24p for a perfect fluid ISO Blu-ray, blu-ray rips, 1080/24p or 720/24p MKV, etc.. Also available, support for Deep Color 12 & 10 bits, a function to crop the screen, and a mode "Plasma" whose utility remains to prove (with a picture light, dark and standard). By cons, we may regret the lack of settings for color spaces or support xvColor (RGB limited or extended) and the lack of video enhancement filters.

The fourth sub-menu for network settings via Ethernet or Wi-Fi (USB dongle or PCI Express WiFi card is optional).

Finally, the fifth sub-menu for updates and two or three possible settings for a password to protect access to certain files, etc..

In summary, this interface is well designed, pleasant, smooth, accessible, settings are simple, and other interesting things, music being played continues to play when you navigate the interface and files on devices and Internal HDD.

Managing multimedia MED500X2

Now for the most important part, the stability of the firmware and multimedia support this MED500X2. We had been on a superb stability with MED500, and we can immediately say that we have found serenity with this new MED500X2, but there are some minor bugs, nothing very annoying especially as this player has just been released! It is more than unusual to see such stability on a drive as green! It will still take into account that we tested the unit with a Beta firmware, and observed that some restrictions can be corrected later by Mede8er.

The multimedia part is managed by this new SoC, the Realtek RTD1185. The quality of decoding and display is very good with a clean image and detailed, still a little too sweet for our taste, but you have to consider that we go out several tests of Blu-ray high-end as the Oppo. The upscaling of MED500X2 us very pleasantly surprised by its quality, especially on 720p video and DVD, display a detailed picture is very clean, beautiful corrections compression artifacts without excessive blurring. Only the part shows some interlacing jaggies on diagonal (staircase effect).

It will be possible to set some image, but it is limited to the contrast, brightness, hue and saturation. It regrets the lack of filters to improve the details or as a noise reducer and why not many deinterlacing algorithms.

Video support


All videos and audio files have been read without any problem, whether it's HD audio with MKV, M2TS of, the ISO or Blu-ray DVD, AVI, MOV, DivX, WMV, but with some restrictions that we will detail more low. Management MKV 720p and 1080p is perfect with support for HD audio (TrueHD and DTS-HD), in bitstream, very nice decoding, support for multitrack audio and subtitles, and chapters.

Changing audio tracks or subtitle is via a pop-up menu managed by the Med500X2. By cons, no repositioning or change in color and size is possible on the subtitles of ISO BD.


A summary of the highlights of this video support:

The multimedia support is excellent in general: MKV, M2TS, ISO or Blu-ray DVD, AVI, MOV, DivX, WMV, perfectly played.
MKV all without exception were read to 100% with either the MPEG-2, H.264 or VC-1.
The chapters in MKV are supported, as well as multitrack audio and subtitles
The chapters in AVI, DivX, MP4 are not supported, those of GM and WMV yes
The ISO-Blu-ray is read Menu support (developing), but without support for advanced menus in Java
The DVD ISO are fully supported with menus
The bitstream of TrueHD and DTS-HD is functional with MKV, M2TS, ISO Blu-ray
Videos AAC 5.1, WMA Pro 5.1, OGG Vorbis 5.1 are played in stereo
The M2TS is well read, with multi audio, subtitles and chapters PGS
The autoframerate 24p (23 976 and 24 and im / s) is fully functional with all files (MKV, ISO, M2TS, AVI, DiVX, etc.).

About 3D Videos
A word on playing video files 3D Side-By-Side (SBS 3D). Remember, these are the two images displayed side by side, the 3D TV is then converted into 3D by disseminating these two images in sequence. For a 3D Full-HD, so you have two 1080p images side by side to a total resolution of 3840 x 1080 pixels. * Internet Services

End up on a small presentation of Internet services and various interesting features. Compared to what we have seen to date on media players and Blu-ray, we can say that part of the internet MED500X2 is not bad at all, but still a little light in services and most importantly, lack a true HD 1080p VOD system interesting (but that in France there is no choice) and services like Catch-up TV M6Replay, Arte VOD or others.

We can enjoy the new version of Youtube XL specially optimized for DLNA devices and it is clear that the YouTube interface is well designed, practical and user friendly. Surprisingly, the quality of videos played on the internet is great! Advantage may be a good upscaling of Realtek.

In the series' video streaming of high quality "one can enjoy several audio podcasts and video HD. We were able to watch videos of documentaries National Geaographic excellent with superb images. Really nice!

We can access internet radio stations, weather world, photos shared on Flickr and Picasa, a tab and then "Internet" which provides direct access to several sites like Engadget, Wikipedia, IMDB, Google News, forum Mede8er, installation guides like YAMJ an excellent system compatible with the Mede8er jackets, or just read the online manual of the player.
In short, it still lacks a lot of services, many will land had progressively, but it lacks most interesting VOD services in France.
